Open Since 1967
MEDA♥CARE AMBULANCE Service was founded in 1967 by the Larsen family. With Yvonne Larsen as the president. MEDA♥CARE AMBULANCE Service became Wisconsin’s second minority owned Ambulance Service and at this time Milwaukee’s only minority owned ambulance service.
The Larsen family history in ambulance transportation stretches to the origins of organized EMS in the state of Wisconsin. MEDA♥CARE AMBULANCE was created in the merger by three of Milwaukee’s original ambulance services; Larsen Ambulance, Gogins Ambulance and July Ambulance.
July Ambulance was Wisconsin's first minority owned and operated Ambulance Service by Steve July, who opened his business in 1953. As an American Indian, he was the first and only minority to own and operate an ambulance business in the state at the time. He operated the business from 1953 until his death in 1964. His wife, Betty July, continued to operate the business, as a women-owned, minority business until she sold the business to the Larson family.
